With all the bright and bold hues this summer, sometimes it’s nice to take a break and go back to basics. Just because our featured trends are more on the toned-down side of the color spectrum, doesn’t mean they’re any less stylish. Au contraire! Black and white and muted tones are totally chic and appropriate all year round.

This Memorial Day weekend, chill out at a backyard BBQ or go on a quick getaway with a few style essentials at hand: shorts, summer dresses, tank tops and lightweight shirts are all perfect for a relaxing weekend of effortless style.

One of the most luxurious trends for summer is the return of metallics. We love a good metallic accessory to add a dose of shine to a daytime look. Try a nice metallic tote (like the one pictured above) or a pair of metallic sandals for just a touch of warm-weather elegance.

There’s no doubt that spring is the best time to rock color. With so many colored denim options out there, you can infuse pops of color to your outfits no matter what your personal style happens to be.

And fellas, don’t think that ladies get to have all the fun! We’re seeing bright and bold colors in men’s fashion as well. There’s the colored jeans option, but you can also do something more subtle like a pop color shoe, top or accessory.

The start of spring always gets us excited about two things: warmer weather and Easter fun! That’s why this week’s Shop By pages are featuring both nautical and Easter looks for both men and women.

Nautical: The nautical trend is really making a huge splash in fashion this season, although it’s a trend that’s been around for ages. It just goes to show how timeless this style is! Invest in classic pieces like a striped tee, comfy boat shoes and a few solid pieces in navy, white and red--- trust us, they’ll instantly become indispensable in your spring/summer wardrobe.

Easter: This holiday rings in the beginning of spring season. With pastels being such a huge trend in fashion these days, Easter looks are definitely spot-on, whether you’re celebrating or not. Guys, if you’re a little weary of pastel shades, try infusing a little dose with a pastel-colored tie or layer a pastel tee underneath a button-up shirt.

On day 2 of our spring shoot, we headed to the beaches of beautiful Manuel Antonio in Puerto Quepos. Our first location was a little bit of a hike, but it was well worth it. The payoff was this gorgeous secluded beach at the end of the trail called Playa Biesanz. It was so peaceful and we highly recommend it for a nice morning hike and even a beachside jog along the lovely cove.

We then headed out to the main beach which is a bit more of a tourist spot. The streets are lined with lots of shops, restaurants and bars, making Manuel Antionio Beach the perfect spot to spend an entire day. You can even learn how to surf with one of the many surf instructors lining the beach.

To top it all off, the sunsets on this side of Costa Rica are definitely picture perfect!

Neons: Whether you go bold with a statement piece or just a pop accent, neons are a must this spring/summer! The easiest way to add in a dose of bright color is through accessories. Try a fun neon clutch or cocktail ring to give your look a stylish focal point.

Prom:  With prom season upon us, we couldn’t pass up all the amazing evening dresses we currently have on the site! We’re particularly loving color dresses and one-shoulder silhouettes for prom this year. Stripes: Not just in the nautical realm, stripes are a perennial favorite that’s easy to wear with anything. Try a casual striped tee on the weekends or throw on a blazer over a striped V-neck for a cool look.

Nudes: We love all the chic and subdued shades out there right now. The trick to wearing nude shades is to complement your skin tone. Fair-skinned girls should opt for more rose or pink-toned nudes. Medium-skinned ladies, go for nudes with gold undertones. Dark or olive skin looks amazing against bronze-nude tones.

Glitter: You know the saying, too much of a good thing is NOT a good thing? The same goes for glitter. To look tastefully chic, keep your glitter item to a single item, whether it’s the focal point (like the dress featured above), or a sparkling accent (like a glitter shoe or clutch). It’s important to not go overboard with this trend.

Plaid: Now for the fellas! Plaid has always been our favorite go-to print for guys. It’s easy to wear, and you can wear it either on your top, bottom or as a cool trim or accent. Want a more fun way to wear plaid? Try wearing a plaid blazer to a daytime party or wedding to keep things interesting!
