Father's Day is tomorrow, a day when we pay homage to great dads everywhere for everything they do. From best buddy, sports coach, driving instructor, impromptu car mechanic, and just overall fixer-of-all-things, a super dad deserves a super day!
Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there!
As we enjoy a nice holiday weekend, we would like to take a moment to give a huge "thank you" to the men and women who sacrifice so much in service of our nation and to protect our freedom. We hope everyone has a safe and fun Memorial Day!
Our Zappos Content Team are quickly becoming a very video driven department, just watch their product description videos. And now they have ventured into making custom brand boutique videos.
Check out their work with Munroe .
At Zappos, we have always taken a crazy amount of pride in our product presentation on the website. The multi-view and product descriptions were the result of years of practice, determination and, most importantly, at least on the photo side, experimentation. But some products need just a little bit more description…so the idea for video descriptions was sparked.
The idea is simple: some products, especially outdoor technical gear, have many different functions that can only be eluded to in the photos and descriptions, and a video could allow a person to personally explain each special feature. And, in an effort between the Zappos Merch, Content and Video teams, we were able to pull together 15 products and shoot videos. Below are a few examples.
We had also decided to use actual Zappos employees in the videos, the first round being only members of the Merch and Content teams. But, after the initial videos were completed, we decided that since there are so many smiling faces at Zappos, why not give everyone a chance to try it out!?
So, on Tuesday, Jason Lee, from our Content Team, sent out an open casting call to all Zappos Employees in Vegas, and the day was caught on camera! Take a look below.
Stay tuned for hundreds of cool product videos to come!
I really hated to title this latest HR / Training pulsating post as I did, (waaaay too many ABBA references his week for some reason), but what choice did I have??? Feast your ogling ojos on this:
That’s Zappos HR’s very own ninja prom queen, Heaven “Heavenless” T. showing us what she’s got. ‘nuff said.
Oh wait, that’s not true!! I also managed to score a pic of Jamstar’s recent glittering gift from one of her joie de vivre vendors:
Perhaps coming to a Zollar Store near you!! Sweeeeeet……
Special thanks to Tony “Gender Bender” H. , Zappos CEO , for letting me post Heaven’s performance here, instead of snatching it from my archives for his own sinister purposes, and waiting ever so patiently for me to get it out. Yer the best Tony. Love ya. Mean it.
Coming Soon!
-How HR’s Monthly Outing literally rocked! (promise this one’s coming really soon)
-An update from Training! (sorry, really needed to get Heaven’s routine up!)
-Zappos.com: Powered by Hope! (and another Dancing Queen!!)
-Random Rozzy Thoughts! (building anticipation…it’ll be worth it!)
-The Benches Are Here!!!!! (or, “Why We Love Rozzy and Rebecca L.!”)
-What’s all this about Twitter , then?!!
Until we meet again, “Yes! A brain transplant!...I don’t need it; take my brain!”

Have any ideas on how this crazy, kooky thing we call a blog could evolve? They don’t even need to be good ones! Have a burning question, or a need to wax philosophical? Need some sage advice? I’m here for you, citizens of the intarweb, and my sustenance is your comments!!!
I am not hating on Paula Abdul, really I’m not. She has a successful gig as the emotional judge on American Idol, looks fairly hot for having weathered drugs, yo-yo dieting, tipping a few bottles and having a husband or two. But did she really need to make more ‘bubblegum pop’ music and, better still, make an accompanying video? Please tell me I am not the only one to have seen the ‘Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow’ video? There are three different vignettes going on: in one, she is doing her ‘I’m still in the ‘80s’, over-choreographed Janet Jackson dance routine with male dancers all around her moving in Fosse-style syncopated movements; in another she is dressed in a lace-covered corset mini dress, gripping a microphone and singing with Randy (yes, from Idol) accompanying her on guitar; and of course one of her singing by herself in black leggings and a red top that has an extended train that swirls around her, as she steps back and forth over the mic mimicking singer Ciara’s moves from the Promise video. But, at least the idols that work together stay together – the closing shot is of all the idols: Ryan, Randy, Paula and Simon. Lets have a collective sigh here.
My question to you is why did the former L.A. Laker girl choose now? And more importantly, what would Simon say to her if she were a contestant on American Idol? Here is the link, check it out and then please explain it to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_FBDaK_Gig&watch_response
