Scarves used to be classified as an accessory only used when outdoor temperatures made our necks intolerable to bare. Over the recent seasons, however, scarves have been spotted not only during the spring and summer seasons, but also worn around the head and neck in various different ways.

From silk to cashmere, designers have experimented with new fabrics transcending the traditional wool that labeled scarves as only a winter accessory. These lightweight and elegant fabrics not only make them suitable for the hotter seasons but also make them malleable enough to be used creatively as a trendy head accessory.

As seen on many celebrities, the “summer scarf” is worn around the neck (not wrapped) and worn to slightly adorn bare shoulders when worn over a tank top or cami. Solid colored scarves give a sophisticated look, while various prints give a more casual and youthful feel. Designers such as Ed Hardy and Alexander McQueen have branded their scarves with highly popular prints that are easily referenced back to the designer, like the Alexander McQueen silk skull scarf. This particular scarf was seen on many celebrities, including Nicole Ricci and Lindsey Lohan.

This year, a particular way to wrap scarves around the neck put a huge spotlight back on this ancient accessory. The “triangle-tie” resembling the look that cowboys used to don were seen all over the runway and streets. Plaid patterns and fringe details were the most sought after styles, modernizing this primitive look.

What can be worn one day around the neck, can easily be transformed into a different look by wrapping it around the head. This season, scarves were highly merchandised with swimwear as the season’s must-have accessory. The different ways of wearing scarves around the head are countless, which is why scarves have become highly popularized, for their capability of being a highly versatile fashion accessory. Whether draped around the neck, wrapped around the head or cinched over the waist, scarves can turn any outfit from dull to dramatic.

As if Lindsay Lohan ‘s life wasn’t already drama-filled, her dad, Michael Lohan, just dropped a major bomb on her and the rest of the Lohan clan. It seems that Michael hooked up with another woman during one of his “off” periods with ex-wife Dina Lohan and actually fathered a daughter with the other woman. Which means that somewhere out there is a Lohan half-sister that the world didn’t know about. Michael Lohan has said that his love child even has some of the classic Lohan features. Wonder how LiLo is going to handle this one? And more importantly, how does the secret Lohan sister feel about being a Lohan? Of course, Michael is really only a father in the technical sense, he hasn’t provided any sort of financial support to the other daughter (not that he provides any financial support to his kids with Dina either).

Russell Simmons will have to fork over $40,000 a month in child support to Kimora Lee Simmons for his two daughters. Now $40,000 is about what most regular people make in a year, much less in a month. I guess baby fur coats and kiddie spa treatments don’t come cheap these days.

Mary-Kate Olsen made an appearance on Letterman for her new movie, The Wackness, where she revealed that she actually went to school with one-half of the World’s Most Hated and Vomit-Inducing Couple, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. Apparently, Spencer had a reputation even in his high school days. She said that he was on the soccer team and would often lose his temper and walk off the field during games. She even agreed when Letterman asked her if she thought Spencer was “wormy.” Spencer, ever the gentleman, responded to Mary-Kate’s comment by saying that it must be tough being the less-attractive Olsen twin. I think he’s forgetting that Mary-Kate could buy him up in a heartbeat if she wanted to.

And guess who’s playing matchmaker for Britney Spears now? Her buddy, Mel Gibson! It seems that Mel is eager to set Britney up with one of his sons. He thinks the two would have a lot in common seeing as how they’ve both had stints in rehab. Yeah, somehow I don’t think that’s the kind of thing you want to lead with when you’re trying to set two people up. Thank goodness that Britney was smart enough to say, “No thanks.”

Well, it’s been less than a week since the latest Miley Cyrus racy photo scandal broke. Her “artistic” partially nude photos didn’t go over too well with parents of tweens and the backlash may be starting already. There are reports that ratings for last Sunday’s new episode of *Disney Channel’*s original series “Hannah Montana“ were down more than 30 percent from the last premiere. So is the dip in ratings due to the writers’ strike or is it just because parents are not permitting their tweens to watch “Hannah Montana” anymore? I mean, it’s not like we’re talking about “Desperate Housewives” here – “Hannah Montana” is as wholesome as TV gets these days.

Oh well, if Miley Cyrus moves away from Disney we can still count on the *Jonas Brother*s to provide some wholesome entertainment. That is until one of the JoBros gets caught up in their own naked photo scandal or worse. Oops, did I say that out loud?<p>Jonas Brothers fans will love this next piece of gossip – it looks like the Jonas Brothers have signed a deal to star in their very own Jonas Brothers 3-D movie due to be released next year! Hey, if the Miley Cyrus/“Hannah Montana” 3-D movie raked in that much cash surely the Jonas Brothers can top it. Perez Hilton is already planning his outfit for the Jonas Brothers 3-D movie premiere.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and thankfully there is plenty of hot Hollywood mom gossip to go around. Britney Spears surprised everyone by actually showing up to her court date on time. This coming after a slew of missed court dates and finally having her visitation rights taken away completely. Could Britney really be getting her act together? Looks that way – the court has added more visitation rights for Britney Spears including overnight stays with her sons. Way to go Brit!

Angelina Jolie‘s pregnancy is old news, but there are now more reports popping up that she and Brad Pitt may really be expecting twins! The reports differ – some claim that she is having a boy and a girl while the latest report from Star magazine says it’s two girls. Either way, I’m sure the Jolie-Pitt clan is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the latest member (or members) of their family.

And here’s a real shocker – Lindsey Lohan‘s mom, Dina Lohan, was honored with a Mother of the Year award! OK, not really. It was more like “Long Island Top Mom,” but the fact that Dina Lohan would receive any kind of award for mothering is beyond me. It makes me wonder who Dina was up against for the award. Amy Fisher’s mom, maybe?

Not only that, but TMZ claims that Dina Lohan actually skipped out on a family counseling session to accept her award. Now there’s a woman who has her priorities in order.

And finally, Jessica Alba did a very sweet thing for other mothers to be this past week. The very pregnant Jessica Alba visited with students at a Los Angeles high school for pregnant teen mothers. Not only did she take the time to talk to the girls and visit each classroom, but she came bearing baby gifts for all 200 girls! How cool is that?
