Visionary designer Yohji Yamamoto is the subject of a short and intimate documentary film directed by Theodore Stanley. The extremely private fashion design icon lets the world take a rare peek at his creative process from conception to the runway.

Hailed as a master of modern fashion, Yamamoto is best known for his use of asymmetry and androgyny in his designs. His penchant for structural silhouettes makes his avant-garde designs utterly distinctive. In the film, Yohji Yamamoto opens up about his artistic inspirations and takes the film crew through his entire creative cycle for his collaboration line with adidas, Y-3.

First introduced back in 2002, adidas Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto was really the first of its kind in terms of brand-designer collaborations. It has since become recognized as the future of fine sportswear.

The intimate documentary ties in to Yamamoto’s 10-year anniversary with adidas and is set to be released to the public in the fall of 2011.
